Effect of Functionalized Organic Antioxidants on Electrical Treeing Degradation of XLPE Insulation
This paper investigates the effects of various types of functionalized organic antioxidants on the electrical treeing degradation and breakdown strength of XLPE insulation. XLPE insulation samples containing different antioxidants, namely Antioxidant 1010, Antioxidant 1076, and Antioxidant <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$A O$</tex>, are prepared for experimentation. Electrical tree degradation experiments are conducted on XLPE insulation under AC voltage. Results indicate that XLPE-2 insulation, containing antioxidant 1076, demonstrates a 2.98-fold improvement in electrical tree initiation time and a 30 % reduction in degradation area. Furthermore, the breakdown strength of XLPE-2 insulation is enhanced by 8.9%. The study elucidates the influence of functionalized organic antioxidants on the performance of XLPE insulation, highlighting their significant potential for enhancing the performance of highvoltage cable insulation.
