Correlation Between Crystallization Characteristics and Electrical Properties of Polypropylene
The crystal structure of polypropylene (PP) can depend on a variety of factors. Crystals of polymers are created when they are cooled from the molten state, and the cooling rate is one of the factors that affect the creation of crystals. In this study, the cooling rate was changed in a temperature range that can be applied in actual industrial sites, creating differences in the crystal structure of PP, and analyzed through X-ray scattering. Electrical properties such as volume resistivity, AC breakdown voltage (BDV), and DC BDV of PP were evaluated, and it was confirmed that PP with high crystallinity has high DC BDV. In the future, we plan to further conduct studies to identify the mechanism and correlate it with more other properties.
