Reduction of Drag Coefficient in Moving Vehicles Using Novel Diffuser Slices Compared with Vortex Generators Based on Reynolds Number

In the context of increasing environmental concerns and the need for sustainable transportation solutions, reducing aerodynamic drag in moving vehicles has become a critical area of research. Aerodynamic drag not only affects vehicle performance but also impacts fuel efficiency and emissions. This study focuses on two innovative approaches: Novel Diffuser Slices and Vortex Generators, both designed to enhance the aerodynamic efficiency of vehicles. The proposed study aims to reduce the drag coefficient in moving vehicles by utilizing these technologies, contributing to a more sustainable environment. A total of 14 samples were collected, varying by time, and were divided into two groups, each containing 7 samples. The roll angle values from these groups were compared to evaluate the performance of the moving vehicles. The results indicated that the Novel Diffuser Slices achieved a drag coefficient of 0.3270, while the Vortex Generators recorded a drag coefficient of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{0. 3 3 3 3}$</tex>. The significance value obtained was (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$p>0.05$</tex>), indicating that the results are not statistically significant. Overall, the findings suggest that Novel Diffuser Slices performed better than Vortex Generators in enhancing the performance of moving vehicles over time.
