Distributed Photovoltaic System Characteristic Analysis Based on Field Measurement Data
Distributed photovoltaic (PV) systems are playing an increasingly critical role in the global transition toward sustainable energy. It provides a cleaner energy solution but also increases the power quality problem of the grid due to its harmonic generation characteristic. Currently, the harmonic constant current source (HCCS) model is usually used to express the harmonic characteristic of the PV system. Therefore, this paper first introduces the topology and basic functions of the PV system. Secondly, the harmonic analysis results of a PV from measured data in a town in China are shown, and they prove that the harmonic generation phenomenon of a PV system is serious in a distorted grid. Finally, experiments under an ideal grid and the grid with harmonic voltages are made to verify the two completely different harmonic characteristics, and the experimental results obtained from a lOkW PV converter confirmed the superiority of the HN model over the HCCS model.
