The Utilization of AI in Fraud Detection in Smart Cities
The rapid advancement of technology has significantly transformed the way cities operate, with the rise of smart cities being one of the most prominent innovations of the 21st century. Smart cities integrate various technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud computing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve urban living conditions, enhance sustainability, and streamline services. These technologies enable smarter decision-making, resource management, and the provision of services, making cities more efficient, livable, and responsive to the needs of residents. As smart cities continue to evolve, the integration of advanced technologies like AI has become crucial for addressing emerging challenges, such as detecting and preventing fraudulent activities. This abstract explores the role of AI in fraud detection within smart cities. It examines key AI technologies utilized for identifying fraud, with a focus on machine learning algorithms that apply both supervised and unsupervised learning techniques to recognize patterns and anomalies in large datasets, thus aiding in the identification of potential fraud. Additionally, natural language processing (NLP) is used to analyze unstructured data from sources like social media, news, and customer feedback, helping to uncover fraudulent behavior that might otherwise go unnoticed. The main objective of this research is to outline effective strategies for detecting and preventing fraud in smart cities, emphasizing the role of AI in identifying suspicious transactions.
