Experimental-based Learning Package of Automatic Control Systems Combining Programmable Logic Controller and Cloud SCADA System
In contemporary education, practical, hands-on learning is a key focus. However, challenges such as limited access to equipment, outdated technology, and students’ lack of foundational skills and motivation often hinder the effectiveness of instructional delivery. As a result, students are unable to fully engage in experiential learning, develop essential competencies, or meet curriculum goals, leaving them underprepared for real-world industry demands. This research aimed to develop an experimental-based learning package for automatic control systems using PLC and Cloud SCADA technology, specifically designed for teaching the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) course. The experimental-based learning package included a comprehensive learning plan, worksheets, instructional media (PowerPoint), assessments, and performance evaluation tools. Expert review by five professionals indicated a high level of quality, with an average score of 4.62. The experimental-based learning package was tested with a sample group of 20 students. The average score of efficiency for learning progress was $\mathbf{8 1. 1 7 \%}$, while the post-test achievement score averaged $82.75 \%$ for learning outcome, exceeding the established efficiency benchmark (81.17/82.75). Furthermore, student satisfaction was rated at the highest level, with an average score of 4.66. These results suggest that the developed experimental-based learning package successfully enhances student motivation, encourages active participation, and supports the development of practical skills in alignment with the learning outcomes of the curriculum.
