Implementing Privacy-Preserving Authentication and Geo-Indistinguishability in Vehicular Cloud Networks

Vehicular Cloud Networks (VCNs) are becoming integral to modern transportation systems, yet they raise significant privacy concerns, particularly regarding the sensitive information of drivers and vehicles. This paper presents a dual approach to address these concerns by integrating Privacy-Preserving Authentication (PPA) and Geo-Indistinguishability. PPA ensures secure vehicle and user authentication without revealing personal information, preventing unauthorized tracking. Geo-indistinguishability further protects location privacy by introducing controlled noise into location data, making exact vehicle tracking difficult while preserving the utility of traffic management and navigation services. The effectiveness of this combined approach is demonstrated through simulations, showing that it preserves privacy without compromising the functionality and reliability of VCNs. This work advances secure and privacy-aware VCNs, supporting their broader adoption in smart transportation systems.
