Hands-on Robotics Training Camp: A Short-Term Laboratory Experience in Structural Design and Programming

This paper presents the design and outcomes of a short-term, hands-on robotics training camp jointly conducted by Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University and Souphanouvong University. The two-day program engaged 40 undergraduate students in practical learning activities involving structural design, circuit assembly, and microcontroller programming using low-cost, paper-based materials. Working in small teams, participants built functional robots and refined their designs through testing and troubleshooting. Pre- and post-test assessments showed measurable gains in technical understanding, while satisfaction surveys indicated high levels of engagement and confidence. Observations by instructors and mentors revealed collaborative problem-solving, creativity under constraints, and learner initiative. The camp demonstrates the educational value of hands-on, mentorsupported robotics activities and offers a replicable model for accessible, multidisciplinary STEM learning in higher education.
