Energy Audit of Public Building Energy Management System for Energy Efficiency
Building energy management is essential for reducing energy costs, enhancing energy efficiency, and lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. An energy audit is one of the most rapid and cost-effective methods to address the gap between energy demand and supply. It provides building owners, facility managers, and stakeholders with valuable insights into the energy performance of their buildings and identifies potential energysaving opportunities. The findings of an energy audit can be used to prioritize energy efficiency measures and to develop a comprehensive energy management strategy. This paper presents a detailed analysis of the energy profile of a public sector building in the State of Qatar, based on an energy audit. The results indicate that up to 49.6% of the total energy consumption could be saved, and approximately 86 tons of GHG emissions could be reduced annually if all the recommended measures are implemented. The study underscores the importance of energy efficiency in public sector buildings and offers practical recommendations to enhance their energy performance.
