Development of Ability in English Learning Management of University Students in Early Childhood Major through Cooperative Learning and Think-Pair-Share Technique
The preparation of university students to become effective teachers in the future is depended upon the development of their English language teaching abilities. This is particularly true for pre-service teachers in the early childhood major. The Think-Pair-Share method is an educational technique that is effective in fostering student participation and critical thinking. It consists of three stages: independent thinking, partner discussion, and large group sharing. These steps assist students in the development of confidence, communication, and reflective skills. In addition, cooperative learning is one of crucial skills in 21st-century. It provides a learning environment in which students collaborate to accomplish the same goal. This approach fosters the development of social skills, shared responsibility, and increased motivation to learn. The integration of these two approaches has the potential to significantly improve students’ capacity to deal with English in a creative and effective way. The purpose of this investigation was to enhance the competence of university students in the development of lesson plans and teaching techniques through the implementation of cooperative learning and the Think-Pair-Share technique. The sample group for this research was purposively selected from 27 university students who were enrolled in the English language curriculum and learning management course. The data were analyzed using the mean and standard deviation. The study’s findings indicated that university students had a high level of proficiency in the development of lesson plans. (Mean = 4.22, S.D. = 0.48). The university students’ teaching abilities were of the highest level. (Mean = 4.59, S.D. = 1.11). Students at the university expressed the greatest satisfaction with their learning experiences through cooperative learning and Think-Pair-Share. (Mean = 4.51, S.D. = 0.56).
