Sustainable Mining: Ecosystem Friendly Production Strategies
Since the industrial revolution, as a result of the industrialization and population growth that has developed since the industrial revolution, the increasing energy demand and the use of fossil fuels have significantly increased greenhouse emissions. This increase causes the destruction of nature. It is aimed to prevent this destruction by using the developed technologies in the industry. Therefore, the importance of sustainable development is increasing. As in every sector, traditional practices in the mining sector can have potential damage to the environment. In order to minimize these damages, a path from traditional mining to sustainable mining should be followed by using various technological developments. Sustainable mining is an approach that prioritizes long-term management of natural resources, environmentally compatible production processes and the well-being of local communities. We can give examples of eco-system friendly production strategies such as the use of renewable energy, environmentally friendly waste management, advanced technology and artificial intelligence applications, advanced filtering systems and technologies. When the effects of using Ecosystem Friendly production strategies on the mining industry are considered, the reduction of environmental negative effects, technological innovation and productivity increase, sustainable development and economic benefit, and the restoration of the region to nature after the end of mining activities provide social benefits. This study investigates the effects of adopting ecosystem friendly production strategies of Sustainable Mining on the Turkish Mining sector. The subject of the study was addressed in order to make evaluations with the changes experienced in the Turkish mining sector.
