Three-dimensional finite element modeling of the foot in scoliosis patients

Aiming at the problem of unbalanced plantar pressure and lack of scientific basis for treatment of scoliosis patients, this study recruited a male volunteer with scoliosis, obtained the right foot image through CT scan, used Minics and Geomagic software to perform 3D reconstruction and precise surfaces, used SolidWorks to generate solid models and construct cartilages, ligaments and other structures, and then imported the foot 3D model into ANSYS to simulate the contact stress distribution between the foot and the ground in neutral position. The results showed that the model has good geometric and mechanical similarity, which can provide theoretical guidance for the biomechanical study of the foot in scoliosis patients, as well as for the prevention and treatment.
