Research on Hydroelectric Power Generation Management Based on Multi-Objective Programming and AHP

As an essential national infrastructure, hydroelectric power plants play a crucial role in providing water resources and electricity to residents. This study addresses water and electricity resource allocation in the Colorado River Basin through an optimization model. Focusing on a system with two dams serving five states, the model integrates water usage, power consumption, and economic considerations. Using interpolation techniques to project regional demands and physical models to estimate hydroelectric losses, we developed a linear programming framework. The model incorporates agricultural, industrial, and residential consumption data to optimize resource distribution while ensuring each state's basic needs are met. To account for water scarcity scenarios, we developed an economic loss function and employed AHP and entropy weighting methods to determine state-specific hydroelectric loss coefficients, enabling the identification of optimal allocation strategies under limited water conditions.
