Research on Temperature Rise Characteristics of Dry-Type Transformers Based on Fiber Bragg Grating Thermometry

By embedding FBGs (Fiber Bragg Gratings) at equal intervals along the longitudinal direction of dry-type transformer windings, the internal temperature of the windings is collected during temperature rise experiments. By comparing data from adjacent positions, the temperature evolution characteristics of the dry-type transformer are reflected, and methods for identifying abnormal temperatures during operation are explored. Experimental results indicate that during the heating process, the temperature difference between adjacent positions of the transformer windings tends to stabilize. Each sudden increase in current causes a corresponding jump in the temperature difference, and the magnitude of this jump is positively correlated with the current. This phenomenon can be used to determine whether the temperature is abnormal. Furthermore, based on this phenomenon, the cooling structure can be optimized to identify areas prone to overheating or excessive temperature differences.
