WeLD: An Approach Towards Collaborative Learning in Education and Research
We Learn through Discussions (WeLD) stands as a dynamic platform for collaborative learning and professional development among participants who are basically the students, researchers, and project staff of the first author. It fosters an environment for open discussions and knowledge exchange. In response to the evolving landscape of education, particularly with the integration of technology and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the WeLD program has demonstrated resilience and adaptability by transitioning seamlessly between offline and online format. Through a structured framework encompassing keynote presentations, general talks, and progress updates, the program facilitates meaningful interactions and problem-solving while promoting leadership opportunities and networking. Evaluation of the program’s effectiveness involved a rating model approach. The rating was done for the usefulness of survey questions and quantitative feedback to glean insights into participants’ experiences. The scores based on feedback analysis indicate a positive perception of the program, with areas of strength identified alongside opportunities for improvement. Notably, participants express high levels of engagement and satisfaction, emphasizing the program’s relevance to academic and personal development. The feedback scores for the questionnaire ranged from 4.3 to 4.7 (out of 5), and the overall program received an average rating of 8.25 (out of 10), reflecting strong participant satisfaction and program effectiveness. The WeLD program has the potential to further enrich its offerings through partnerships with industry stakeholders as well, diversification of session formats, and a commitment to continuous evaluation and enhancement.
