Assessment of Reliability-Based Pre-Determined and Post-Determined Distributed Generation Location
This paper investigates the impact of predetermined and post-determined distributed generation (DG) placement on the reliability of electrical distribution networks, using the IEEE 33-bus system as a case study. The research compares the effects of both approaches on key reliability indices, including the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), and Customer Average Interruption Duration Index (CAIDI). By systematically analysing the number and duration of interruptions before and after DG installation, the study demonstrates that post-determined DG placement offers superior reliability improvements, reducing interruptions more effectively than the pre-determined approach. The findings underscore the importance of strategic DG placement in enhancing grid resilience and reliability.
