Enhanced Second Harmonic Generation of NLO Polymer/Plasmonic Au Nanoprism Hybrid Structure
Strong and confined localized surface plasmon (LSP) enhanced optical fields are useful to enhance various light-matter interactions at the nanoscale. One of the most important applications is nonlinear optics (NLO), mixing of multiple light waves. Due to the limited light-matter interaction length in the vicinity of the plasmonic metal nanostructure, it is difficult to achieve the sufficient wavelength conversion efficiency. In this paper, we propose the solution of using NLO polymer, which is rich in nonlinear susceptibility, to increase the NLO wavelength conversion efficiency. Our challenge is to increase the efficiency of second harmonic generation (SHG) by coating the plasmonic metal nanostructures with this soft NLO medium.
