Correlation parameter analysis of laser and ablation-driven plasma
A numerical model was developed to simulate the ablation dynamics caused by various laser parameters, aiming to investigate their effect on the ablation-driven changes on the target surface during pulsed laser ablation. The results show that the plasma plume produced by the 532 nm laser absorbs much less laser energy than the plasma plume generated by the 1064 nm laser. When the laser wavelength is fixed, an increase in the laser peak power density leads to an earlier onset of the plasma shielding effect, resulting in a lower effective utilization of laser energy and a decrease in the impulse coupling coefficient. Additionally, lasers with poor beam quality cause greater energy loss during energy transfer. This study offers valuable insights for selecting parameters in laser ablation propulsion systems for vacuum experiments and engineering applications.
