Transient Shielding of a Planar Conductive Screen Exposed to a Pulsed Vertical Electric Dipole

The shielding problem of a planar conductive screen exposed to a vertical electric dipole with a delta-type pulsed current is analytically solved in the time domain. The approximate solutions for both the longitudinal and transverse components of the shielded electric field are derived throughout the shielded space using the inverse Laplace transform method. These solutions are applicable when the diffusion time is much longer than the transit time and the distance from an observation point to the source is much larger than the screen thickness. A finite-duration pulse can be approximated as a delta-type pulse if its duration is much shorter than the diffusion time and its dominant frequencies fall within the feasible range.
