Design and Analysis of a New Hybrid-Excited Flux Switching Machine With Dual-Set of PMs
This article proposes a new hybrid-excited flux switching machine with dual-set of PMs (HE-FSDPMM), which features employing PMs on both teeth and yoke of stator to produce parallel dual-PM flux to enhance the torque capability. Besides, the HE-FSDPMM equipped with field windings can produce another parallel dc flux for flux weakening. The topology and operation principle of HE-FSDPMM are described. The design considerations of HE-FSDPMM, including multiobjective optimization, slot/pole combination selection, and critical parameter effect analysis, are investigated. Then, the electromagnetic performances of HE-FSDPMM under different excitation states are analyzed, and a comprehensive performance comparison with two existing HE-FSPMMs is developed to evaluate the advantages of HE-FSDPMM. The results show that compared with the existing HE-FSPMMs, the proposed HE-FSDPMM accommodates higher torque density, higher PM utilization, higher power factor, and better flux weakening capability. Finally, a prototype of HE-FSDPMM is manufactured and an experimental validation is performed.
