Characterization of Temporal Optical Parametric Oscillation in Silicon Nitride Microresonator Driven by Modulated Pumping
Optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) based on high-Q silicon nitride (SiN) microresonators are crucial for numerous high-performance photonic integrated circuits (PICs) such as tunable light generators [1], wavelength converters [1] and photonic computing hardware [2], [3]. An important challenge in this area, essential for the scalability of applications, including coherent Ising machines [2], quantum random number generators [3], and squeezed states generators [4], is the time multiplexing with high-speed operation. In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate the time evolution of the generated signals in the SiN microring resonator by a single pump with continuous wave (CW) and also modulation rates as 10 MHz, 50 MHz, and up to 100 MHz.
