The KALDERA Ti:Sapphire Drive-Laser for Laser Plasma Acceleration at High Repetition Rates

Laser-driven accelerators hold the unique potential to significantly reduce the physical size and the costs of e.g. future synchrotron-injectors or free-electron lasers (FEL) [1], [2]. To reach this ambitious goal with high peak power lasers, the common repetition rate of a few Hz needs to be scaled up towards the kHz regime, which also yields kW-level average power. In turn, the laser's high-repetition rate finally enables the fast active stabilization of various laser parameters which will support sub-percent energy spread from the actual laser plasma electron accelerator. Indeed, these stabilization measures are understood to be key to match the stability requirements of existing synchrotrons or FELs.
