Diverse Dynamics of Polarization Domain Walls in Passive Kerr Resonators
Polarization domain walls (PDW) are topological kink structures that connects spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) continuous wave (CW) solutions in coupled systems. For the last three decades, these structures have been observed in various fields of nonlinear optics, such as single-pass normal dispersive fibers, fiber lasers, and coherently driven passive Kerr resonators [1]. In the last case, the domain could be induced by the SSB polarization bifurcation and the cross-phase modulation (XPM), leading to the mode interchange of the two orthogonal polarization components [1], [2].
