Fabrication of Perovskite Semiconductor Devices for Solar-Pumped Lasers
Solar-pumped lasers have been investigated from the viewpoint of carbon neutrality, including the use in space and the application to the reduction of magnesium oxide. Cr-doped Nd:YAG has been mainly used as a laser medium, but the conversion efficiency from the sunlight to the laser light is low, and a large-area focusing system is usually required. On the other hand, perovskite semiconductors have recently attracted attention as a new material for solar cells [1]. In particular, CH<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf>NH<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf>PbI<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> (MAPbI<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf>) has a bandgap energy of 1.6 eV (corresponding absorption edge wavelength is 775 nm) and absorbs most of the solar spectrum with a thin film of 1 <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mu\mathrm{m}$</tex> thickness. We then aim to develop a compact and efficient solar pumped membrane external-cavity surface-emitting laser [2] using MAPbI<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> as the laser medium. In this work, we fabricated laser devices and characterized them.
