Electro-Optic Frequency Comb Spectroscopy Using Tailored Reconfigurable Modulation
Electro-optic (EO) modulation of a continuous-wave (cw) laser is a well-established method for generating optical frequency combs (OFCs) [1], which has recently gained renewed interest due to its potential for chip-scale integration [2]. A notable but often underappreciated advantage of EO comb generators is that they can produce a wide range of spectra in a predictable manner by just changing the modulation signal. Traditionally, the primary focus when generating EO-OFCs has been to optimize the RF signal sent to one or several EO modulators to achieve broad, flat-topped spectra [1], [3].
