Effect of Light Ellipticity on the Laser Excitation and Energy Absorption by Fused Silica: ab initio Simulations and Experimental Measurements
Usage of ultrashort laser pulses that are focused inside the bulk of dielectrics has enabled advanced realization and commercialization of photonic elements enabling the shaping of light polarization (1–3). To push further the development of applications, fundamental insights are still in demand, particularly to improve control in the early stages of the interaction.
