Sub-100 fs, 10 W Yb:CaAlYO4 CPA Regenerative Amplifier a Front-end for Average Power Scaling of 0.1-1 MHz Yb-lasers
Yb-based lasers have shown promise to make ultra-short, fs pulses using diode pumping. They might be a good alternative to Ti:Sapphire fs-laser systems in many cases where an efficient fs-laser system with easily scalable average power is needed. Such applications are found in material processing, high-resolution imaging, spectroscopy, and other areas. Still, one of the main challenges in the developming of femtosecond Yb lasers is to achieve the shortest possible pulse duration (i.e., < 200 fs) at a relatively high average power (>~ 10W).
