Mamyshev Oscillator-Pumped Organic Crystals for Single-Pulse THz Generation

THz radiation, with its unique spectral characteristics, finds broad applications in various fields, including molecular spectroscopy, hyperspectral imaging, and time-resolved spectroscopy. Optical rectification in nonlinear organic crystals (OCs) presents a promising approach to efficient THz generation, benefiting from significantly higher nonlinear coefficients than inorganic crystals. While OCs have demonstrated success at low repetition rates (typically below 1 MHz) [1], operating at higher repetition rates is crucial for improving temporal resolution, reducing acquisition times, or increasing average THz power. However, this often leads to thermal degradation and reduced efficiency in OCs[2]. In this context, Mamyshev oscillators are an excellent candidate for pumping nonlinear OCs at intermediate repetition rates. These lasers deliver high-peak-power ultrashort pulse trains at repetition rates in the tens of MHz, exhibiting exceptional stability and low-noise operation.
