Temporal Reflections via Intermodal Interactions in Multimode Fibers
All-optical switching schemes enable ultrafast optical information processing via light-by-light control: for example, a temporal soliton may manipulate a dispersive wave (DW) at a different wavelength [1]–[3], [4]. Key control parameters may include: the DW power, its temporal width and wavelength, the soliton-DW delay, and the soliton duration, to name a few [5]. Most all-optical switching scheme involve a singlemode fiber; using multimode fibers (MMF) instead introduces new spatial degrees of freedom. Remarkably, MMF enable the generation of multimode solitons (MMS) [6]–[8]. So far, all optical interactions between MMS and DWs remain unexplored.
