Femtosecond Laser Micromachined Glass Microfluidic Platform With Nanoporous Membranes for Advanced Blood-Brain Barrier Modeling
Acute ischemic stroke and traumatic brain injury are major causes of mortality and morbidity, driven by limited therapeutic options and blood-brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction. Recent advances in 3D BBB modeling focus on the role of fluid shear stress (FSS) in BBB physiology [1]. While polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is widely used in microfluidic BBB models, its porosity and absorption of hydrophobic compounds can affect biological responses and analytical precision [2].
