9.3-W 2.3-μm fs MOPA Employing Cr:ZnS/ZnSe Polycrystal Rods
We demonstrate a single-pass master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) system that outputs femtosecond (fs) pulse trains at ~2.3 μm with an average power of 9.3 W, pulse durations <120 fs, and repetition rates >150 MHz. The system exploits the inherent ion concentration gradient in thermally diffused gain media to optimize efficiency.
