Suppression of Inter-Pulse Amplified Spontaneous Emission in High Peak Power Amplifier Based on an Er-Yb Doped Fiber
High-power nanosecond laser sources emitting at a wavelength of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\sim 1.5\mu \mathrm{m}$</tex> are an ongoing area of research due to their potential applications in various fields including, remote sensing, light detection, topographic mapping, wind sensing [1], as well as in laser processing of silicon [2]. However, scaling up the peak power of a monolithic fiber laser presents challenges, primarily due to substantial nonlinear effects that occur when high-intensity light propagates through all-fiber amplifiers. One of the main limitations of power scaling is amplified spontaneous emission (ASE), which becomes significant or even dominates at low repetition rates and short pulse durations.
