Tunable Optical Filters using Barium Strontium Titanate as Electro-Optical Material
Barium Strontium Titanate (Ba<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">x</inf>Sr<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">1</inf>-<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">x</inf>TiO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf>, commonly referred as BST) is widely used in the microwave regime, most notably in tuning permittivity of BST in metal-insulator-metal (MIM) varactors [1], [2]. In this work, we introduce a novel application of BST as an electrical tunable optical filter. The main focus is to detail fabrication process of filters and preliminary results, indicating their potential for future work.
