Closed-Loop Noble Gas Recycling System for Cost-Effective High-Harmonic Generation
Noble gases such as xenon, krypton and neon are essential for generating coherent extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) radiation using high-harmonic generation (HHG). However, their rarity and high cost pose challenges for long-term experimental and industrial use. Addressing these issues, we developed a closed-loop recycling system capable of recovering, purifying, and re-compressing noble gases to pressures up to 200 bar [1]. This setup ensures continuous operation, significantly reducing gas waste and operational expenses. We use it to operate our 100 MHz XUV frequency comb with high-pressure xenon gas [2].
