Post-Compression of an Ytterbium Laser in Two Steps for Attosecond Spectroscopy
The enhancement of the repetition rate of lasers using ytterbium-based systems constitutes a significant breakthrough in attosecond science. This development, combined with the implementation of efficient post-compression techniques [1], [2], enables effective utilization of the self-phase modulation (SPM) effect to achieve spectral broadening and reduce pulse duration. In this study, we employ a two-stage hybrid system [3] to post-compress laser pulses at the millijoule level, reducing the pulse duration close to the single optical cycle regime, with an overall transmission efficiency exceeding 40%.
