Optical Components for On-Chip Interferometric Fiber Optic Gyroscope Using Thin Film Lithium Niobate Platform
The interferometric fiber optical gyroscope (IFOG) is an optical sensor for detecting the angular velocity of a moving object that has been widely used owing to its advantages of high accuracy, good reliability, and fast response speed. An IFOG includes multiple active and passive optical components. Integrating these discrete components on optical chips is pivotal for cost reduction, volume minimization, and improving stability. Several studies have investigated integration by combining certain parts [1], [2]; however, the individual components are still separate and independent. In recent years, advances in thinfilm materials integration technology have provided reliable methods to integrate all the components onto a single-chip IFOG [3].
