Influence of Inscription Strategies on Group Delay Ripples in Fs-Written Chirped Fiber Bragg Gratings

Chirped Fiber Bragg Gratings (CFBGs) are critical components for fiber-based applications relying on precise dispersion control. A key example is Chirped Pulse Amplification (CPA), where the dispersive properties of CFBGs are utilized as pulse stretchers [1], [2]. For CFBGs implemented in CPA systems controlling Group Delay Ripples (GDR) is essential, as they can degrade pulse contrast and reduce the overall efficiency of the system [3], [4]. Recently, CFBGs based on infrared femtosecond laser inscription have shown promising results for successful implementation as fiber integrated stretchers, as e.g. the 2 μm wavelength region can be addressed [5]. However, GDR have not yet been thoroughly investigated for femtosecond inscribed CFBG. We present an investigation on the influence of the inscription strategies and parameters on the resulting GDR performance [6].
