Investigation of Plasmonic Mode Coupling in Three-Dimensional Metallic Wire Terahertz Metamaterials
Terahertz (THz) metamaterials are engineered structures designed to manipulate THz radiation and are necessary for a wide range of applications. While conventional two-dimensional, lithographically fabricated metamaterials are already extensively utilized, there is also growing interest in three-dimensional metamaterials due to their potential for enhanced functionality [1]. Woven wire meshes, which are industrial-grade, periodic, large-area, three-dimensional materials made of interwoven wires, have attracted attention for their intricate plasmonic resonances facilitated by their complex microscopic geometry [2]–[4]. Although these meshes are produced for industrial applications like chemical filtration, recent studies have demonstrated their potential in efficiently controlling THz radiation and enabling THz molecular sensing [3], [4]. Despite the attention these metallic wire THz metamaterials have received in the THz community, their plasmonic properties are still not well understood.
