Strain-Induced Curvature in a Photonic Chern Insulator
To date, topological states of matter have been extensively studied in Euclidean (flat) lattice geometries. Recently, topological phenomena in negatively curved (hyperbolic) lattices have attracted significant attention: hyperbolic lattice tilings were studied in electronic and QED circuits [1], [2]. In our work we show a different approach in applying negative curvatures to a photonic artificial solid, allowing to transition smoothly between Euclidean and hyperbolic space by continuously tuning the curvature – a feature fundamentally inaccessible by hyperbolic tilings.
