Watt-Level Ultrafast Praseodymium-Doped Fluoride Fiber Amplifier at 1.3 μm
Short-wavelength infrared (1.0–2.5 μm) fiber lasers have been very well developed for optical telecommunications and biological sciences. Praseodymium-doped fluoride fiber (Pr3:ZBLAN) lasers at 1.3 μm (O-band, 2nd optical window) have been developed for three decades, however, the power level of the developed fiber lasers have been limited to a few hundreds of mW. The power level is enough for telecommunication applications but not suitable for multi-photon fluorescence microscopy. In this contribution, we present a watt-level chirped pulse amplifier based on Pr3:ZBLAN.
