Analysis and Comparison of Interleaved SNSPDs Photon Number Resolving Modalities
Photon Number Resolving Detectors (PNRDs) are in high demand as they promise to further enable quantum technologies related to computation, sensing/metrology and communications [1], [2]. Different devices and detection approaches have been implemented for this purpose: examples are spatial or temporal multiplexing of the light field into additional modes with the use of on-off type detectors, or intrinsic PNRDs, such as Transition Edge Sensors (TES). However, this superconducting detector technology requires mK operation and complex readout schemes.
