A Study on the Adoption of Ind AS in line with IFRS and its impact on the Financial Statements of Indian Listed Companies.
The convergence of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) has been a major reform in India's financial reporting system. This study examines how the adoption of Ind AS, which is closely aligned with IFRS, has affected the financial statements of Indian listed companies. The focus is on changes in recognition, measurement, and disclosure practices, especially in fair value reporting, financial instruments, revenue recognition, and consolidation.Using secondary data from selected Nifty-50 and BSE-listed companies over a fiveyear period, ratio analysis and paired t-tests were applied to compare pre-Ind AS and post-Ind AS performance. The results show that Ind AS adoption has improved transparency, comparability, and investor confidence, while also bringing Indian reporting practices closer to global standards. However, challenges such as higher compliance costs, complex accounting treatments, and the need for ongoing professional training remain. The study concludes that although implementation created short-term difficulties, the long-term benefits, such as improved credibility of financial statements and better global integration outweigh the challenges. These findings will be useful to regulators, corporate managers, investors, and accounting professionals in understanding the impact of Ind AS -IFRS convergence in India.
