Enhancement of Imaging Algorithm for View Expansion Microscope System Through Thread Synchronization and Parallelization

With the increase in late marriages, assisted repro-ductive technologies, such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), have experienced increasing demand, offering effective solutions for infertility-related stress and achieving pregnancies in cases where conventional methods face limitations. Conventional ICSI procedures require operators to frequently adjust magnification and light intensity using optical microscopes, which reduces concentration and potentially impacts success rates, a critical concern in ICSI operations. Although view-expansion microscopes can simultaneously present both wide-range and high-resolution images, their expanded images suffer from low frame rates (typically 4.5 fps) and delays. Hence, we propose an enhanced view expansion microscope system in which the imaging algorithm is improved by optimizing timing via multithread synchronization and dual imaging threads. The effectiveness of the proposed system was validated through comprehensive experiments measuring frame rates. The results demonstrate reduction in image presentation delay by 44% and increase in frame rate to 6.11 fps. This improvement enables smoother real-time visualization during micromanipulation, potentially enhancing ICSI success rates by allowing operators to maintain focus throughout the procedure.
