Driving Force Assistance Control for Enhancing Occupant Comfort in Vehicles

A design method for a driver-assistance control system aimed at enhancing occupant comfort is presented. The comfort index is defined as the occupant head tilt angle jerk. To enhance occupant comfort while preserving vehicle dynamics, the driving force assistance is computed. The proposed method formulates the control problem as a model predictive control (MPC) with quadratic constraints. Numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract

A design method for a driver-assistance control system aimed at enhancing occupant comfort is presented. The comfort index is defined as the occupant head tilt angle jerk. To enhance occupant comfort while preserving vehicle dynamics, the driving force assistance is computed. The proposed method formulates the control problem as a model predictive control (MPC) with quadratic constraints. Numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
