Unexpected rupture of the recipient tendon after a flexor tendon graft: a case report
Tendon grafts are pivotal for restoring flexor tendon function when tenorrhaphy is not feasible. Despite advances in surgical techniques, complications such as ruptures at the repair site remain common. This study presents a rare case of rupture occurring proximal to the repair site, rather than proximal to the tendon graft construct itself, following reconstruction of the flexor digitorum profundus and flexor digitorum superficialis tendons. These findings underscore the importance of evaluating proximal tendon integrity independently of the graft site, with potential implications for surgical planning and postoperative rehabilitation.
