Comparison of Hematological Sepsis Score and Modified Hematological Sepsis Score in Early Diagnosis of Neonatal Sepsis
In 2017, Krishnamurthy et al. 4 developed a modified hematological sepsis score, and it was hypothesized that including nucleated red blood cells (NRBC) in the HSS would enhance diagnostic accuracy, as the bone marrow releases NRBC in reaction to stress such as hypoxia, gestational diabetes, and sepsis. [5][6]][7][8] They also removed parameters such as I:M and band count, since their pathology was the same as that of immature to total ratio (I:T). 5,9his score was named Sepscore by Padhy et al. 10 Our study was aimed at calculating both the HSS and modified hematological scoring system (mHSS) and comparing their diagnostic abilities.
