Bibliometric Analysis of the Coronaviruses Journal: Unveiling Research Trends, Key Contributors, and Thematic Insights

Introduction/Background: Coronaviruses have posed severe public health challenges, prompting a significant amount of research in recent years. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of the "Coronaviruses" journal, and it establishes major trends, top authors, and thematic results. Materials and Methods: A bibliometric approach was employed, where data were sourced from Scopus. Various bibliometric indicators, including publication trends, author trends, citation analysis, and keyword mapping, were investigated using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer. Results: The study revealed that there was increased research output in the "Coronaviruses" journal, and some of the most significant contributors achieved major breakthroughs. Keyword analysis identified major themes, such as response to pandemic, vaccine development, and viral mutations. Citation network analysis identified articles with the greatest impact on the research field. Results show a growing interest in research on the coronavirus, with collaborative patterns and thematic development offering hints of future research directions. The research also identified areas of research shortfall that can be addressed by follow-up studies. Discussion: The study indicates that the Coronaviruses journal serves as an active platform for advancing research, with a growing output, thematic richness, and global engagement. It adds value to existing literature in the sense that it opens up burgeoning fronts as well as key contributors, thus providing a limited yet efficient view of its scientific contributions. Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis presents a comprehensive picture of research trends in the "Coronaviruses" journal and offers valuable input for researchers and policymakers.
