The Impact of Power Generation Caused by Dynamic Shading from Wind Turbine Blades in Hybrid Offshore Wind-Solar Systems

The intensive development of offshore new energy generation has led to an important trend of wind-solar co-location, but the effect of power generation caused by dynamic shading of wind turbine blades on photovoltaic (PV) panels needs to be quantitatively analysed. In this paper, we construct a coupling model between dynamic shading of wind turbine blades and PV panels for the scenario of offshore wind-solar co-location, and explore the effects of blade speed change on instantaneous power fluctuation and cumulative power loss of PV power generation through Matlab simulation. The results show that the frequency of instantaneous power fluctuation of PV panels increases significantly with the linear increase of blade rotational speed from 0 to 32 rpm, and the maximum instantaneous power loss rate reaches 3.85%; the cumulative power generation loss rate rises gradually with the rotational speed, and the overall loss rate reaches 2.90%. The study reveals the negative impact ofhigh-frequency time-varying characteristics of dynamic shading on the PV panels, and provides a theoretical basis for the optimal design of the layout of offshore wind-solar farms.
