Neural Processing Mechanisms of Visual Symmetry Across Different Visual Fields: An Event-Related Potential Study
This study investigated the neural mechanisms of visual symmetry processing across different visual fields through comparative analysis of event-related potential (ERP) components. We recorded electroencephalographic (EEG) responses to symmetrical stimuli presented across all four visual fields (upper, lower, left, and right). Results revealed that symmetrical stimulation in the lower visual field elicited significantly higher EEG amplitude compared to stimulation in the upper, left, and right visual fields. Additionally, stimulation in the left visual field produced higher amplitude responses than stimulation in the right visual field. These findings indicate differential neural processing mechanisms for symmetry across visual fields. By comparing EEG activity patterns under different visual field stimulation conditions, Our findings elucidate the neural mechanisms of symmetry processing, offering novel theoretical and empirical contributions to neuroscience.
