Simulating Polycarbonate Processing Interactions: A Comparative Study of RSM Design Techniques

The experimental design was enhanced by the Design Expert (DoE) program, enabling both numerical and statistical optimisation to be utilised in this study. This method was employed to develop a statistical equation for the simulated regression models in the study. The color parameters (dL*, da*, & db*) were significantly influenced by the three studied parameters, in addition to specific mechanical energy (SME). Furthermore, for the experimental trials, the specific mechanical energy was calculated, and it was found to decrease as the feed rate increased. In conclusion, to determine which design model produces the best color quality, the study compared the two models. Choosing the proper process settings is crucial for reducing color fluctuations (dE*). After analysing the collected data using micro-CT-scanner pictures (MCT), the pigment dispersion was determined. Firstly, the study looked at the BBD. The processing circumstances indicated that, overall, 87% was the maximum design attractiveness, while 0.26 was the lowest deviation. On the other hand, the three-level full factorial design (3LFFD) was discussed, with a maximum desirability of 77% and a minimum deviation (dE*) of 0.25. This study determined that both sets of process parameters were statistically significant after comparing the two designs; nevertheless, BBD was eventually selected.
